Stimulants
Stimulant drugs are drugs that affest the mood, incerse your feeling of happiness, along with energy and alertness. Stimulants speed up communication with the brain and nerves. They can make people stay awake at night. They are illegally used sometimes to get high. They can sometimes be prescribed by doctors for asthma, respatory problems, obesity, and ADHD.
Some examples of stimulants are cocaine, methamphetamine, amphetamines, methylphenidate, nicotine, and MDMA (3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine) or Ecstasy. All of these drugs can be abused in the following ways:
1. Swallowed in pill form
2. Snorted in powder form
3. Injected with a needle
4. Smoked

Effects on the Body
Stimulants make communication with the brain and the rest of tthe body quicker. These types of drugs can cause problems such as vomiting, confusion, and dizzyness as short term effects. In the long run it can damage your heart, lungs, liver and brain. Every dose increases your risk of a serious helth problem. While under the influence of these drugs, your vision and sense of distance may be messed up along with an over confidence to do something risky. Stimulants can badly effect the amount of sleep a person gets. They can cause the person to loose hours of sleep. These drugs can put you into risk of car accidents for driving under the influence.
Social Effects
Some positive socail effects that effect people on these drugs may be healing, more consentration, and more energy. However, if these drugs are abused or used illegally because of addiction, these drugs can cause bad socail effects. Some of these are loosing friends and spending less time with family. If abused these drugs can separate someone from their loved ones, due to addiction or medical reasons.
History
Lots of people start using these drugs because they are perscribed to them by a doctor. They might then become addicted to them and won't be able to stop using them. They might also start using these drugs because of peer pressure, or because they are curious.
In a study in 2011 by the NIDA, they learned that 1.1% of 8th graders use powder cocaine as well as 1.7% 10th graders, and 2.6% 12th graders. They also discovered 0.9% of 8th graders and 10th graders, and 1.0% of 12 graders use crack cocaine. In this study, they figured out also that 0.8% of 8th graders, 1.4% of 10th graders, and 1.4% of 10th graders used Methamphetamine. They also found out that 3.5% of 8th graders, 6.6% of 10th graders, and 8.2% of 12 graders used Amphetamines. For Ritalin 1.3 percent of 8th graders, 2.6 percent of 10th graders, and 2.6 percent of 12th graders used the drug for nonmedical reasons. In this study it also became aparent that 1.7 percent of 8th graders, 4.6 percent of 10th graders, and 6.5 percent of 12th graders abuse adderall by using it nonmedically aswell.

Street names for cocaine are "coke," "C," "snow," "flake," "blow," "bump," "candy," "Charlie," "rock," "toot" And for the smokeable kind, "Crack." ("speedball" cocaine and heroin combined.)
Street names for methamphetamine are "speed," "meth," "chalk," and "tina." in smokeable form it is called "chrystal," "ice," "crank," "fire," "glass," and " go fast."
Some street names for methylphenidate include "vitamin R," " west coast," and "rits."
Lastly some street names for amphetamines are "black beauties," "speed," "bennies," "crosses," "hearts," "truck drivers," and "LA turnaround," and "uppers."
